Dental Hygienist
Our dental hygienist philosophy is firmly based on prevention; establishing and maintaining healthy gums is our main priority and we will always recommend regular visits to one of our four hygienists who not only treat acute or chronic gum problems but also provide the all important routine maintenance.

Benefits of Visiting a Hygienist
A Dental hygienist specialises in preventative oral care, providing bespoke oral health advice. Dental Hygienists are trained to professionally clean your teeth, helping to prevent the risk of tooth decay and gum disease, with their main focus being on ensuring you keep your natural teeth for as long as possible.
Preventive Care
Visiting a dental hygienist shouldn’t just be for treating oral health problems. They should be a form of preventive care, allowing a dental hygienist to spot potential issues and address them before they occur.
This is important as poor dental hygiene is known to be the cause of a range of other illnesses, aside from the well-documented issues like gum disease and rotting teeth. Heart disease, diabetes, respiratory problems, and oral cancer are all potential health issues.
Fresh Breath
During a dental hygienist appointment, you will receive a deep clean of your mouth, removing the nasty bacteria that cause halitosis, commonly known as bad breath.
Regularly brushing and flossing your teeth is crucial; however, it’s often not enough to remove all of the bacteria causing bad breath, this is why a visit the hygienist is paramount to oral hygiene and dental care.
Education
Just because we were taught how to brush and floss our teeth from a young age, that doesn’t mean that you are always doing it correctly. A great way to know if you are doing something wrong is by visiting your dental hygienist for advice and guidance.
Your appointments will be educational. Dental hygienists will review your brushing and flossing technique, your diet, and stress management. They can then educate you on the best way to make improvements and take care of your oral hygiene.
